LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES AUGUST 17. 1993 <br />4. OLD BUSINESS: <br />A. Chipper Recommendation <br />M/S/C Johnson/Johnston - that the city continue to accept brush from only Lake Elmo <br />residents with no added fee in 1993, and the staff be directed to get bids and formulate <br />a plan to chip the brush pile the week of October 17, with the final date for accepting <br />brush be established at October 17, 1993. (Motion carried 4-0). <br />B. Dead -End Sign on Jamley Avenue <br />M/S/C Mottaz/Johnson - to accept the recommendation of the Maintenance Foreman to <br />place a "Not a Park Entrance" sign below the existing sign to help in alleviating the <br />traffic. (Motion carried 4-0). <br />C. Letter from Dan Burgess, 8085 Hill Trail N. <br />Mayor John read the letter the Council received from Dan Burgess. Mayor John <br />questioned two signatures of neighbors (Zabrok & Robin Furseth) submitted by <br />Burgess who did not have a problem with his tow business. Mayor John stated that he <br />has personally received several phone calls which indicate concern on Burgess' <br />activities in the Tri-Lakes area. <br />D. Update on Olson Lake Pond <br />Administrator Kueffner provided the council with copies of the Preliminary Silver <br />Lake/Mud Lake/Echo Lake/Weber Pond/Long Lake Water Management Plans by Karen <br />Chandler, Barr Engineering. <br />M/S/C John/Mottaz - to direct the city attorney to investigate methods by which we <br />could adopt litigation or acts which will try and prevent any further action in terms of <br />discharging (Motion carried 4-0). <br />M/S/C Johnson/Mottaz - that the city engineer review other segments of the 509 Plan <br />revision and submit comments as soon as possible and make copies for the council for <br />their comments and direct engineer to attend the VBWD workshop on August 18. <br />(Motion carried 4-0). <br />5. PLANNING/LAND USE & ZONING: <br />A. Travel Plaza - Staff Review & Recommendation <br />At the August 10, 1993 special meeting with the Parks and Planning Commission, the <br />council directed the staff to prepare an outline as to how the city should proceed in <br />reviewing this request. The council received a memo dated August 12, 1993 from Mike <br />Black and Mary Kueffner outlining the steps in order for Flying J, Inc. to proceed with <br />their proposal. <br />
