LAKE ELPIO CITY COUNCIL BUDGET UORKSHOP # 1 - AUGUST 2, 1994 <br />SUPZ^IARY MINUTES <br />Mayor John called budget workshop to order at 6:10 n.m. in the City <br />Council Chambers, PRESENT: John, Johnston, Johnson, Conlin <br />Banister handed out preliminary proposed budget with some 1995 <br />figures.and asked for input from Council for their priorities <br />for expense additions. <br />FULL TIME PLANNER: discussion on whether it's time for the City to <br />have an in-house planner. Council agreed to nut $50,000 for salary <br />and benefits in 1995 budget for full time planner. <br />POLICE CONTRACT - add 1 more deputy to contract: discussion on <br />having 3 deputies for 1995 at a cost of about $52,000 more. Council <br />decided to continue with only 2 deputies for 1995. <br />CITY CENTER PLANNING: Mayor John inquired what to do about putting <br />money in budget for expenses for City Center planning. Council <br />agreed to add a line item "City Center/I-94 Planning Reserve" in <br />the amount of $30,000 to the 1995 Budget. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE SIREN: Fran Pott was present to update Council on <br />siren for Tri-Lakes. Price for a new siren of $14,400 also there <br />are used sirens available at about 25% of cost of new one. We <br />put $5,000 in 1993 budget and $7,000 in 1994 budget for siren. <br />Council agreed. to add $7,000 in 1995 Budget for Civil Defense <br />Capital Outlay. Council directed Fran Pott to proceed with more <br />detail to purchase a siren for Tri-Lakes area. <br />FIRE, PUBLIC WORKS & PARKS BUDGETS: Fire department wants to meet <br />with the Council as a whole to discuss their needs, Banister to <br />set up meeting time and date. Banister to meet with Dan Olinger & <br />Mike Bouthilet to prepare Public Works and Parks Budgets. Council <br />would like department heads (Dan & Mike) to attend a budget workshop <br />to answer any questions that may come up. Banister to prepare <br />budgets for the next workshop - August 9th at 3:00 P.M. <br />BUDGET WORKSHOP ADJOURNED AT 7:00 p.m. <br />
