MAC/COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES JULY 1, 1996 2
The preliminary schedule for the plan was reviewed.
Dean Johnson opened the meeting for discussion.
Lee Hunt: 1. access to the site, 2. security, the storage areas
Dan felt he should be consulted on this issue.
Bill Wacker questioned the usable land area. With the present plan, it is 10 acres, moving the storage
area; it reduces the acreage to seven acres.
Steve DeLapp asked if the offices could be shifted to the north side of the building.
Dick Johnson questioned the size of the building from the original plan. Steve DeLapp stated that
through his review of the plan, the building size has increased. Lee Hunt added that the difference
between cold storage $29.00 per sq.ft. wasn't that much of a difference because of the size.
Lee Hunt felt that two buildings may not be very wise. $45,000.
Dick Gustafson felt the landscaping could be done more reasonable by the City,
Bill Wacker: Public Works doing as much earthwork as they can. Availability of work. Bearing wall in the
building could be constructed later. The City will have more changes. Agrees with Dick Johnson on the
Friedrich site. Steve DeLapp agrees with Rita Conlin on the site plan.
Dick Johnson: Looks good for convenience, but not for taxpayers. Some mechanical elements were
questioned.
Wyn John felt that the City made the commitment by purchasing the site.
Lee Hunt knows that the City was in an emergency mode. Had to vacate the site. He felt that the
Friedrich site is not an option. For the public good. Look at other sites in a short period of time.
Onno VanDemmeltraadt:You may come up with another option.
Financing was discussed.
Dean Johnson: Has a clear direction on this site, but what about the Friedrich site or other sites. Mayor
John felt that each site would need to be evaluated at a cost of $10,000.
Changes in Sites: Only Options
$50,000 to $300,000 Earthwork low $50,00- up to $200,000
Landscape and planting $100,000
Location changes may only allow a 20% change in costs.
Richard Gustafson - soil borings?
Dean Johnson: does not know, may be able to create a "borrow" pit.
Dick Johnson:agrees with DeLapp about number of windows being reduced.
Lee Hunt: May be its time to have design meeting.
Can Dean proceed wtih site design?
