LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 7, 1996 <br />Mayor John called the City Council meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council chambers. PRESENT: <br />Hunt, John, Johnston, City Engineer Prew, City Attorney Fills, City Planner Terwedo and Administrator <br />Kueffner. ABSENT: Del-app, Conlin <br />I.AGENDA <br />ADD: Addendum, 4E. Wayne Olson, Washington County Deputy DELETE: 8D. Letter from Cennex <br />requesting to continue <br />M/S/P Hunt/Johnston - to approvo the agenda for November 7,1996 as amended. (Motion passed 3-0). <br />2. MINUTES: October 15, 1996 <br />M/S/P Hunt/Johnston - to approve the October 15, 1996 City Council Minutes as amended. (Motion <br />passed 3-0). <br />3. CLAIMS <br />M/S/P Johnston/Hunt - to approve the November 7, 1996 Claims #5230 through #5310, as presented. <br />(Motion passed 3-0). <br />4. PUBLIC INQUIRIES/INFORMATIONAL: <br />A. Canvass Election Returns <br />The City Council must meet within three days of a local election to canvass or certify the results of the <br />election. <br />M/S/P Johnston/Hunt - to adopt Resolution No. 96-34, A Resolution Canvassing the Returns and <br />Declaring the Winners of the 1996 Local Elections. (Motion passed 3-0). <br />B. Public Inquires: None <br />C. Recognition's of Louise Friedrich, Washington County Senior Citizen of the Year <br />Louise Friedrich was honored as one of two Washington County Senior Citizens of the year. Louise is <br />involved with the Oakdale/Lake Elmo Historical Society and contributed to the Society's book on the <br />history of Lake Elmo. <br />Mayor John recognized Louise Friedrich as Washington County Senior Citizen of the Year and handed <br />out a certificate of appreciation for her contributions to Lake Elmo. <br />D. Lee Miller - Update on Stillwater engineering study being done relating to the Long Lake Watershed <br />Lee Miller, Friends of Long Lake Homeowners Assoc., is meeting with each jurisdiction because there is <br />no longer a Brown's Creek W MO to address the watershed issues on Long Lake. Mr. Miller submitted a <br />letter, dated November 7, 1996, stating their objective is to share information regarding the risks of <br />flooding and damage to their homes and ask Lake Elmo's assistance in reducing that risk. Lake Elmo <br />controls the largest undeveloped portion of the Long Lake watershed. <br />M/S/P Hunt/Johnston - to supportihe letter from Friends of Long Lake Homeowners Association, Inc. <br />(Motion passed 3-0). <br />E. Wayne Olson, Washington County Deputy <br />Deputy Wayne Olson was before the Council to listen to any requests or complaints. Speed problems <br />were acknowledged on Lake Elmo Avenue, Lower 33rd St., Jamaca Avenue, County Road 13, 53rd <br />Street and 55th St. off of DeMontreville. <br />I - <br />
