LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL Ii,.iNUTES AUGUST 19, 1997 <br />Mayor John called the Council meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council chambers. PRESENT: Hunt, <br />Dunn, John, Conlin, DeLapp, City Attorney Filla, City Engineer Prew, City Planner Terwedo and <br />Administrator Kueffner. <br />1. AGENDA <br />M/S/P Hunt/Dunn — to approve the August 19, 1997 City Council agenda as amended. (Motion passed 5- <br />0). <br />2. MINUTES: August 5, 1997 <br />M/S/P Conlin/DeLapp — to approve the August 5,1997 City Council meting minutes as amended. (Motion <br />passed 5-0). <br />3. CLAIMS <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Conlin — to approve the August 19, 1997 claims #6185 through #6227 as presented. <br />(Motion passed 5-0) Hunt abstained on Claim 96187) <br />4. PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL/INQUIRIES: <br />A. Neighborhood Watch Signs in Rolling Hills <br />Bonnie Juran, 9784 57'h St. N., reported the residents in Rolling Hills have met with the Washington <br />County Deputies and requested "Neighborhood Watch" signs be erected on 57'h Street within this <br />development. A map was provided showing the approximate location of these signs based on the <br />recommendation of the Crime Prevention Unit. The cost of these signs is $31.65 each. The residents have <br />petitioned for two signs for a total cost of $63.30. Staff supported the efforts of the Crime Prevention Unit <br />and recommended that two signs be erected on 57" Street. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Dunn — to approve the request from the petitioners within "Rolling Hills" for the placement <br />of two "Neighborhood Watch" signs on 57°i Street based on the recommendation of the Crime Prevention <br />Unit of the Washington County Sheriff's Department at a cost not to exceed $70.00. (Motion passed 5-0). <br />B. Vacancy on the South Washington Watershed District <br />Administrator Kueffner reported she has not heard from Rose Armstrong if she was interested in serving on <br />this Board. <br />C. Workshop with Baytown <br />Administrator Kueffner reported there is a joint Lake Elmo/Baytown community meeting scheduled for <br />September 25, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. at Oak -Land Junior High school. <br />5. CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT: <br />A. Water Tower Alarm <br />Tom Prew reported he received two quotes for an auto -dialer well alarm. <br />Automatic Systems Co. $1,640.00 <br />Tri-State Pump and Controls $1,190.00 plus an estimate 8 Hr. of labor at $67/Hr. = $1,726.00 <br />He has had experience with the RACO alarm auto -dialer proposed by Automatic Systems Co. and <br />considered it the industry standard. Prow recommended accepting the quote from Automatic System Co. <br />and authorize the staff to have a telephone line installed at the well house. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Hunt — based on the low bid and favorable recommendation by the City Engineer, to accept <br />the quote from Automatic Systems Co. to supply and install a RACO Guard -It- 4 channel automatic dialer <br />for $1,640.00.
