LAUDLRDALL COUNCIL
ACTION FORM
Action Requested
Consent
Public Hearing
Discussion X
Action X
Resolution X
Work Session
Meeting Date
May 25, 2021
ITEM NUMBER Seal Goatin Award
STAFF INITIAL
APPROVED BY ADMINISTRATOR
DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE AND PAST COUNCIL ACTION:
The City Council authorized the city engineer to bid achy -wide seal coating project for
2021. The results are in and favorable. The low base bidder was Allied Blacktop Company
at $150,887.50. The contractors bid two additional items for consideration. The first was for
seal coating the alleys. Generally speaking, the alleys do not need to be seal coated. But, if
pricing were more favorable, it would have been something to consider. Staff recommends
holding off on the alley seal coating and simply fixing the alley segments that were identi-
fied in the base bid for repair. A sanitary sewer manhole repair also was bid to see whether
pricing from the sanitary sewer lining or seal coating project came in cheaper. These prices
are higher than the work previously quoted by the sewer lining companies so we expect to
contract for this work as part of the sanitary sewer lining project.
As previously discussed, the funds for the project exist in the Street Project Fund (Fund 403)
and are being augmented by the transfer of $78,897 from the General Fund at the end of
2020.
OPTIONS:
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Motion to adopt Resolution No. 052521 A —A Resolution Accepting Bids for the 2021 Seal
Coating Project.
