Deputy Police Chief Kinney <br />stated that is correct and that is in accordance with the LELS contract. Mayor Flaherty asked if <br />this officer could use any of the equipment purchased for the previous officer. Deputy Police <br />Chief Kinney stated some of the equipment could be used, but not all of it. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7567, <br />Appointing Greggory Neumann to the Position of Police Officer. <br />Council Member Stigney noted the dollar amount for Step 1 is not identified in the Resolution. <br />Clerk-Administrator Ericson stated staff would add that dollar amount. <br />AMENDMENT: Mayor Flaherty and Council Member Mueller accepted this friendly <br />amendment. <br />Council Member Stigney stated he does not support this action because it is not the proper time <br />to hire a new officer due of funding restraints. <br />Ayes — 4 Nay — 1(Stigney) Motion carried. <br />• F. Resolution 7568, Authorization to Advertise and Recommend a Candidate <br />for Hire for the Public 5ervice Officer (PSO) opening in the Mounds View <br />Police Department. <br />Deputy Police Chief Kinney advised that Public Service Officer (PSO) Tyler Martin had resigned <br />his position and while the Council had expressed support to rehire for this position, he was <br />concerned with the suitability of a one-year-old eligibility list and asked the Police Civil Service <br />Commission to establish a new eligibility list. He advised that the Police Civil Service <br />Commission has ordered that the existing list be dissolved and approved the creation of a new <br />eligibility list. Deputy Police Chief Kinney reviewed the duties of the PSO and presented staff's <br />recommendation to authorize the advertisement for the vacant PSO position. <br />Council Member Stigney noted this is a 30 hour per week position and asked how many hours <br />each week are spent on Code enforcement. Deputy Police Chief Kinney explained the hours are <br />scheduled one-third Code Enforcement and two-thirds Police Department duties. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7568, <br />Authorization to Advertise for the Public Service Officer (PSO) Position opening in the Police <br />Department, with a starting wage at Step 1 of $12.73 per hour. <br />Council Member Mueller noted the number of Code enforcement cases has doubled since the <br />• 2009 purchase of code enforcement software so scheduling one-third of the hours for Code <br />Enforcement will be of help. Clerk-Administrator Ericson stated the two departments work <br />
