Mounds View City Council March 22, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 9 <br />• catered luncheon to a potluck, reducing the expense to $800 with the employees still receiving an <br />appreciation certificate. <br />Council Member Gunn appreciated Staff's ability to reduce the expense. <br />Council Member Mueller felt the appreciation luncheon should be held and thanked Staff for <br />finding an alternative to the catered meal. She was in favor of presenting staff with the <br />appreciation certiiicates. <br />Council Member Hull questioned if the budget could be reduced to $175. City Administrator <br />Ericson felt this would be possible. <br />Council Member Stigney was in agreement that the luncheon should be cut back and thanked <br />Staff for the recommendations. Mayor Flaherty agreed. <br />City Administrator Ericson reported the City is still in labor negotiations with LELS and <br />AFSCME. <br />City Administrator Ericson indicated Clearwire was looking for an additional location for <br />another tower within a City park. He stated this could be a potential revenue stream and asked if <br />the Council would open to the idea. <br />. Finance Director Beer suggested Clearwire erect the tower and be given reduced rent, but that the <br />tower be owned by the City of Mounds View. He stated this would allow the City to collocate <br />additional antennas on the tower. <br />Council Member Gunn indicated she would rather see the tower on a pole and not in the woods <br />because she wanted to limit the number of trees lost in the City's park. <br />Council Member Mueller stated the Council made it a goal to increase revenue streams and was <br />in favor of exploring the idea of an additional tower. <br />Council Member Hull stated he was open to the idea of another tower and questioned if the Park <br />and Recreation Board has discussed this idea. City Administrator Ericson explained this has not <br />yet been brought to the Park Board. <br />Council Member Stigney indicated he would be willing to consider the tower. <br />Mayor Flaherty noted would be willing to review a tower plan as well. <br />City Administrator Ericson stated the state changed the date of the primary election was changed <br />to August 10, 2010, and an updated calendar was provided to the Council. <br />• City Administrator Ericson explained he attended the March 10, 2010, Charter Commission <br />meeting. The Charter Commission is reviewing Chapter 8 at this time and may send an <br />
