Mounds View City Council January 2, 2007
Regular Meeting Page 5
• Council Member Stigney indicated that he would like to follow the Planning Commission
recommendation.
Council asked whether all of the candidates were interviewed by the Planning Commission.
Director Ericson indicated that the two individuals that were at the Planning Commission
meeting were interviewed.
Council Member Mueller indicated that she would have trouble appointing their
recommendation if not all candidates were interviewed.
Director Ericson indicated that Mr. Lang and Mr. Cramblit were at the meeting.
Council recessed.
Council reconvened.
Mayor Marty indicated that Ms. Walsh-Kaczmarek had indicated during the recess that she did
not know she was still in the running or she would have said something during the meeting.
Community Development Director Ericson indicated that he had sent an email to all of the
• candidates indicating that the candidates would be discussed at this meeting and inviting them all
to attend the meeting.
City Administrator Ulrich indicated that Roberts Rules states that a vote by ballot can be done
but must be decided by motion and that motion is not debatable. He then said that the Mayor
should appoint two tellers to distribute and count the ballots.
Mary Kay Walsh-Kaczmarek addressed the Council and said she did not receive an email as she
had computer trouble over the holidays. She then said that she would like to express her interest
in serving on the Planning Commission. She further provided reasons why she would like to
serve on the Commission including her desire to work with the City to help redevelop the
Highway 10 corridor.
Mayor Marty asked if Ms. Walsh-Kaczmarek had volunteered for anything before.
Ms. Walsh-Kaczmarek indicated that last summer she worked on the VFW Auxiliary fundraiser
for the polytrauma unit for the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. She then said she has also
volunteered in other ways primarily with the VFW.
Council Member Mueller said that she feels everyone has an intense desire to serve and all bring
good qualifications to the position. She then asked Ms. Walsh if she would consider Park and
Recreation or the Charter Commission.
~
