Fire Chief Zikmund addressed Council and explained the Fire Department's request for a Mobile <br />Command and Communication Vehicle for the Fire Department. <br />Chief Zikmund explained that they had visited the manufacturer's site and feel confident that the <br />vehicle will meet the needs of the Fire Department. <br />Council Member Mueiier asked what the primary function of a Chemical Assessment Team is. <br />Chief Zikmund explained that the command and communication van is a tool that will be used by <br />whomever is in charge of the emergency scene be it police or fire. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Marty. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7038, A <br />Resolution Approving the Purchase of a Mobile Command and Communication Vehicle for the <br />SBM Fire Department. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />D. Resolution 7039, a Resolution Approving the SBM Fire Department, in <br />Cooperation with the Coon Rapids and Fridiey Fire Departments in <br />Submitting a Proposal to the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety <br />to Continue in the Role as one of the Chemical Assessment Teams <br />• Fire Chief Zikmund explained that the SBM Fire Department would like to remain one of the <br />Chemical Assessment Teams and would like authority to work with the cities of Coon Rapids <br />and Fridley to submit a proposal to the State of Minnesota to continue this role. <br />Fire Chief Zikmund provided an explanation of the types of equipment on the chemical <br />assessment truck and explained that the truck is rotated with Coon Rapids and SBM. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaherty.
