A policy of Seniority ilhall be formulated that will give <br /> permanent employees with longer per.kods of aervico an opportunity for <br /> promotion and also givo all employees a feeling of security. <br /> Section_ 4 Now employees shall be on a six-month probationary paviodt <br /> It-ctign 3, There- shall be a seniority list established which shall in- <br /> ilude the Maintenance Department based on their original date of hire. <br /> Jecti2nJ. In the event of lay off duo to lack of work, permanent em� <br /> p).oyees with the least seniority shall be the first to be laid off, and <br /> in the event of rehire, the last employee laid off stall be the first <br /> to be rehired. <br /> section 5* In Cite event of a job opening, the job shall be announced by <br /> bulletin and the oldest permanent qualifying amployee shall be given <br /> first opportunity to step up for promotion. <br /> Se tion 6. Permanent employees shall not be reduced in pay scale when <br /> assigned work of a lower classification. EmployeQo performing work of <br /> a higher pay classification shall receive the wage ,wale prevailing for <br /> the higher classification according to Article VIII, section 3. <br /> Section 7. No permanent employee shall be laid off omt of turn on the. <br /> seniority list. <br /> Section Q. In the event of discharge, the employee or bis representn- <br /> tive shall be entitled to a hearing before the Village Council. This <br /> hearing shall take place within fifteen (10) calendar days of dischargo <br /> date upon the request of the employee or hia ropronentative. If 't in <br /> then determined that tho employee had been unjustly discharged, he shall <br /> be reinstated at once and all wages lnd other benefits lost during his <br /> time off shall be cred-itid to him. <br /> ARTICLE 11 <br /> Sick Leave <br /> Section 1.
