Sullivan <br />July 28, 1959 9'_ <br />A special meeting of the Village of Mounds View was called to order at 7:05 P.M. <br />Tuesday, July 28, 1959, at the Village Hall, 1450 West Highway 96. <br />The following members were present: <br />Mayor: James W. Gibson <br />Clerk: Earl E. Smith <br />Trustees: Melford C.Christensen <br />Donald Hodges: <br />Engineer: C. V, Comstock <br />egal Counsel: Richard Meyers <br />Dr. rioule, Health Officer for the village appeared by request of the council <br />to discuss the water situation in the village. Dr. Houle suggested four things to <br />be done to alleviate the contaminated water conditions. (1) install water and sewer, <br />(2) If it is not feasible to install both at the same time, water should be installed <br />first, (3) A deep well ordinance be established by the council, (4) and that bottled <br />water be used for infants under six months of age. Mr. Comstock, Village Engineer, <br />stated that it would be 18 months to two years before sewer could be installed in <br />the village and that perhaps all efforts should be given to the installation of <br />water instead of sewer in view of the present contaminated well situation. Mr. Comstock <br />stated that he is continuing with the preliminary planning for sewer and water in <br />the village. <br />The subdivision regulations were discussed and some ammendments were made thereto. <br />Mr. Mueller presented his plat to the council for his land adjacent to County <br />Road H2 Motion by Smith seconded by Hodges to accept the plat presented and designate <br />it as the preliminary plat to which suggestions were made thereto, and that a final <br />plat must be presented to the council for final approval. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Roy Juntunes and Mr. Chris Piehowsld appeared before the council in regards <br />to their applications for building inspector. b oth gentlemen were interviewed by the <br />council and will be notified of the councils decision. <br />Mr. Leonard Babinski appeared before the council in regard to prefab chimneys <br />presently installed in the three houses in is addition. Motion by Gibson, seconded <br />by Hodges that the village council not approve of Section 6.46, of our building code <br />in regards to prefabricated chimneys on the three houses located at Red Oak Drive. <br />(Said motion would deny construction of prefab chimneys.) Smit'.;, Christensen, Gibson, <br />no; Hodges, yes. <br />Clerk mitb instructed to contact the League of Piunicip•.lities for placement of <br />a for sale add for the 1956 Police vehicle in the League Bulletin. <br />Mayor Gibson contacted Mr. Jorgenson of the County Civil Service and stated <br />that Mr. Jorgenson or members of his staff will set up an examination for Chief of <br />Police, Sergeant, Patrolman or whatever the council may desire.
