GJO067 <br />Mr. Inge Haug, Secretary of the Planning Commission, read the minutes <br />of the Planning Commission meeting. A discussion was held on the eubject <br />of a setback variance for the building of a garage at 5046 Longview Drive <br />by Richard S. Johnson. Trustee Christensen suggested and the council con, <br />carted that the Secretary of the Planning Commission write a letter to Mr. <br />Johnson stating what is required of him before the variance can be considered. <br />The subject of the open ditch located off Lambert Street on the play <br />gound in that area was discussed in order to develop that playground without <br />being divided by the ditch. Referred to the Engineer for investigation and <br />report. <br />A discussion was held concerning the subject of a county park in the <br />northwest corner of the county which could concievably be in Mounds View. <br />A study of this park site to be made by the Planning Commission. <br />A request for subdivision by Mr. Frederick Meckola was brought to the <br />council and referred to the Planning Commission for study and action. Clerk's <br />office to Call Mr. Meckola and obtain three more copies of his plat plan. <br />The council was informed that the next meeting of the Planning Com- <br />mission would be July 26, 1960. <br />Mr. Kenneth Ballenger, Civil Defense Director, reported on the work <br />of the Civil Defense Unit. He stated that the Civil Defense Rescue truck <br />was being readied for service so that it could be placed in service in the <br />near future. <br />Mr. Robert Eickstadt, Chairman ofthe Police Commission read the montOly <br />Police report which will be placed on file in the Clerk's Office. <br />A report was given by the Village Engineer regarding the waterworks <br />construction. It was also mentioned that the plans for the sewer system <br />was near completion and that the decision remaining was one of locating the <br />outlet for the sewer. Motion by Crane, seconded by Malvin that Comstock <br />and Davis, Village Engineers complete the sewer survey as soon as possible <br />and that the cost of the construction be forwarded to Ehlers and Mann, <br />Village Fiscal Agents so that they ooa use the cost figures for preparation <br />of material for a public hearing which will determine if the citizens in the <br />village still desire the sewer system. 5 Ayes, motion carried, <br />The subject of the preparation of the budget for the year of 1961 <br />was discussed and Mayor Crane suggested that letters be sent to the <br />different commissions requesting that they submit their budgets for the <br />coming year. <br />Motion by Smith, seconded by Christensen that the following bills <br />be read to the audience and paid: <br />Comstock and Davie for professional services as follows <br />Deep Well Engineering Services $1,046.59 <br />Waterworks Engineering construction Sv. $7,416.00 <br />Resident Inspection and Supervision of <br />Waterworks project. $2,655.50 <br />(2 <br />
