In Feb. .;f 1960 our Village Engineer had been <br />negotiating with Minneapolis through the Arsenal system and there was <br />nc progress at that time with the City of Minneapolis. In the mean- <br />time, a loan was applied for and turned down. n July of 1960, the <br />Engineering Committe of the I'.S.S.S.D. submitted a plan for drainage-- <br />five different methods were proposed. The first one, that of Minneapolis <br />sewer collection, is the one new accepted. <br />Various petitions were filed with the Council during the course <br />of these years. <br />Mr. Meyers p-:inted ut that we have been faced with <br />this problem since 195E and the hope that we could have it salved <br />within five years seems abcut tc be realized. <br />The following points of progress were listed: <br />1. The contract has been submitted with H.S.S.S.D <br />2. Sewer district has the means <br />3. Contract for signing has been submitted. <br />4. Three hearings have been set for December 5, 12 and 19, <br />the lateral hearings tc• come later. <br />Mr. Hodges then introduced Ar. Les Knutsen, rncineer with <br />Comstock a Davis to give the technical background if this project. <br />Mr. Knutsen gave explanatia s the varicus maps displayed, defining <br />the areas involved and sh wing hew they were divided. <br />The water table and ground ccmp'2siti-.n in the area were <br />illustrated by map and an explanation given .:f the problems invlved <br />in c hanneling the water away since the water table is quite high. <br />
