Councilman Johnson's Report <br />Councilman Johnson announced that street sweeping was started today (McPhillips <br />Sweeping Company at $21.00 per hour). A private contractor was hired in an <br />attempt to save money and finish the job sooner. Ramsey County did the job <br />last year. <br />He said new street signs were ordered and will be installed yet this spring. <br />Councilman Johnson related that the Village office and himself have put together <br />a piece of literature on Mounds View to serve as sales and general information <br />about the Village. He stated that it was mailed to various realtors and mortgage <br />companies and he has received two favorable telephone calls to date on it. <br />Councilman Johnson declared that applications have been received and closed on <br />hiring a new maintenance man, and interviewing has started. <br />Councilman Johnson offered a summary of the last North Suburban Sewer Service <br />Board meeting he attended. He related that he expected sewer costs to increasg <br />substantially over present rates as a result of Metro Sewer. He stated the <br />Board also adopted a $15,000.00 budget for 1972 with Mounds View's share $825.00. <br />MSP (Johnson /Hodges) To order the installation of a street light on Greenwood <br />Drive between Hillview Road and County Road J. <br />Councilman Baumgartner's Report <br />Councilman Baumgartner's reported on the Recreation Committee meeting of March 30th <br />with Ken Simons, Ramsey County Open Space Planner in attendance. <br />MSP (Baumgartner /Hodges) To instruct the Village engineer to review the Village <br />storm sewer needs relative to the open space map presented by Mr. Simons in an <br />effort to satisfy those needs and Village open space needs through land acquisition <br />by .the County Board. 5 Ayes <br />Councilman Baumgartner thanked the Mounds View Snowmobile Club for their $300 <br />donation and stated that present plans are to plant trees in the Village Wayside <br />Park. He commended the Club for their organization in their 1 1/2 years of <br />existence, and their operator school for teenagers. <br />MSP (Baumgartner Neisen) To authorize Clerk- Administrator Zylla to send a <br />letter to the Mounds View Snowmobile Club thanking them for their $300 donation. <br />Harry Gum inquired about the damaged bleachers on Hillview Park. Councilman <br />Baumgartner replied that they will be picked up and repaired. <br />Councilman Pickar's Report <br />2 <br />Councilman Pickar reported on the last Lakeside Park meeting. He stated that job <br />applications were out now for summer personnel and the beach is scheduled to open <br />the first week of June. He stated that the matter of the Fridley beach on Spring <br />Lake was discussed again and it was discovered that Fridley had no room for more <br />than eight cars parking off street. <br />Mayor Neisen commented that the 621 Growth Committee has put together a plan to <br />attract industry to the area which will be mailed Co large firms throughout the <br />state. <br />5 Ayes <br />5 Ayes <br />
