-6- <br />Mayor Neisen commented that there was a public hearing. <br />Irene McCunniff, 5381 St. Stephens, stated from her experience on streets in <br />Minneapolis where streets were blocked off in similar situations, she feels <br />it makes a safer traffic situation. <br />Mary Siemen, 8021 Eastwood, is concerned about safety aspect, children on <br />bicycles etc. She feels blocking Eastwood would be a safety measure. And <br />felt that the present yield sign on County Rd. I and Eastwood was ineffective. <br />Mr. Bob Raes, 7715 Eastwood, suggested making one -way streets, Eastwood Rd. a <br />one -way south and Greenwood Drive a one -way north on the end between Hillview <br />and County Rd. I. <br />Mr. VanWormer made a note of his suggestion as a possible solution. <br />Ms. H. Johnson, 5297 St. Stephens said her home at present was almost unbear- <br />able from the sound of the traffic and she wanted to know if there was some <br />device that could be installed for a sound barrier. <br />Mr. VanWormer said there were no plans for installing sound barriers on highway <br />#10. <br />Mrs. Jchnson asked if there was some special permit she could get to build a <br />barrier herself. <br />Mr. VanWormer said if what they wanted to do was compatible to the Highway <br />Dept., this could be done. And if she would like to be referred to someone <br />to pursue the matter further, he would give her names of persons to contact. <br />Michael Roos, 5260 Greenfield, asked for an idea of how much increase there <br />would be in traffic noise with a traffic signal. <br />Mr. VanWormer said there should be no nc *_iceable difference. <br />Mr. Siemen, 8021 Eastwood, expressed the traffic problem at Eastwood Rd. and <br />County Rd. I due to people not yielding at the yield sign. <br />Mayor Nelsen stated that a motion was placed before the chief of police a year <br />ago and his recommendation was that the yield sign be installed there. He felt <br />a stop sign would only cause more problems. <br />Sam Siemen said another problem is a blue truck that obstructs the view and <br />he wanted to know if they were licensed. <br />The mayor said "yes" they were licensed and have been for the past few years <br />and this would be their last year there. <br />James Jackson, 5299 O'Connell doesn't want street blocked but would like <br />semiphore installed. <br />Roger Johnson, 7767 Long Lake Road, wanted to know how much more traffic would <br />be generated. And, he is concerned about 5, and 6th grade students walking to <br />school. <br />
