-5- <br />February 10, 1975 <br />Administrator Achen presented the cost estimates of the change orders <br />on the city hall addition along with samples of carpet and paint color <br />selections for the building. <br />MSP (Johnson Baumgartner) to authorize the change order to substitute two <br />drawer sections for $750.00, for electric operation for two overhead doors <br />at $550.00 with proviso for one remote operator in each squad, $440.00 to <br />change driveway location, add one riser in front of dais and to lower <br />dais one riser at no charge. Administrator Achen is to check to see if <br />a greater credit for the garage floor can be obtained. <br />Councilman Hodges' Report <br />Councilman Hodges reported on a memo from Pack 167 regarding planting <br />of flowers at the city hall. The memo was direc.ed by Council to the <br />Park Director. <br />Councilman Hodges presented an announcement that the Metro Council would <br />hold a public hearing Monday, March l0,onthe proposed metropolitan signi- <br />ficance regulation. <br />Councilman Shelquist's Report <br />Councilman Shelquist stated the Planning Commission wanted to bring <br />to Council's attention the statement of Mayor Hofstede to the Advisory <br />Committee regarding approval of comprehensive plans of counties and <br />municipalities. <br />Councilman Shelquist presented the subdivision request of Robert Bruflodt, <br />8346 Groveland Road, creating one 120' X 100' lot fronting on proposed <br />Knollwood and another lot 303' X 100' fronting on Groveland Road. Normally <br />subdividers split their lot into two equal portions. The Planning <br />Commission felt the lot split as proposed was poorly planned even though <br />it met the minimum lot requirments. The final result was a 180' X 100' lot <br />less a 30 foot street easement and a 273.2' X 100' lot with a 10' utility <br />easement on its east border. This would allow a 70 to 80 foot front setback <br />and a 30 foot rear setback as required. <br />Mr. Bruflodt is not pleased with the new street going in and wants to retain <br />the maximum amount of his lot for himself. <br />MSP (Shelquist- Hodges) to approve the lot split as recommended by the <br />Planning Commission but deleting the requirement for a survey. <br />Mayor Johnson stated that he feels a procedure should be set up whereby <br />a person splitting his lot can get a commitment from the Planning Commission <br />indicating that it is acceptable to the Commission. He favors requiring of <br />surveys. <br />Attorney Meyers said a survey is not required by State law, but most <br />communities with considerable development are requiring it. He stated that <br />a survey at the Planning Commission level should be required. <br />Councilman Pickar is not in favor of surveys, because of the additional <br />expense to the property owner. <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated if the person has a sketch plan and previous <br />approval by the building inspector, he favors a survey. <br />5 Ayes <br />5 Ayes <br />
