Page 2 <br />March 10, 1975 <br />Mayor Johnson expressed concern that if Blaine were to receive financing <br />to clean their ditches and we did not, we would be forced to clean our <br />ditches due to the increase in water flowing through the ditches into our <br />system. Mayor Johnson asked Blaine if they would include the red portion <br />of the map in the proposal. <br />Mr. Schrantz said they could add at least the trunk area without any <br />problem. <br />Mayor Johnson asked Engineer Bearden and Administrator Achen to be cooperative <br />in this endeavor with Blaine and to keep abreast of the project. <br />Councilman Baumgartner asked if the west leg of the red area, which drains <br />Greenfield Park could be included in the project. Mr. Nelson said they <br />would investigate this possibility. <br />MSP (Johnson- Hodges) to refer comments to the staff and engineer for their <br />evaluation and ask that they report back to the Council with their findings. <br />Councilman Baumgartner asked the planner if they have a timetable. Mr. <br />Nelson replied that final application has to be filed in April. <br />Mayor Johnson's Report <br />Mayor Johnson read the Police Report for February 1975. <br />Mayor Johnson reported that he is attending the Ramsey County League meeting <br />on Wednesday, March 12, 1975, to discuss allowing school districts and Ramsey <br />County to become members of the League. <br />MSP (Johnson Hodges) favoring proposal allowing the school district and county <br />to becom., a member of the Ramsey County League. 4 Ayes <br />Mayor Johnson read a letter from Senator John Milton stating that he will oppose <br />the Ramsey County Board proposal to remove court revenue from the suburbs <br />rather than sharing it as is presently done. <br />Mayor Johnson read a letter from Wendell Anderson regarding spring thaw and <br />threat of flood. Governor Anderson is calling a conference on Natural <br />Disasiers to be held at the Hopkins House on Wednesday, March 12. Councilman <br />Hodges reported that he would be in attendance. <br />Mayor Johnson read Resolution No. 665, adopted March 3rd, opposing portions <br />of the Metropolitan Council's draft regulations for metropolitan significance <br />issues. <br />Mayor .Johnson presented a letter from the mayor of Coon Rapids announcing <br />his appointment to the Mayors' Committee on the Bicentennial and as the <br />liaison to the State Government on Bicentennial activities within Minnesota. <br />He inviter.; a Mounds View representative to a meeting in the Coon Rapids City <br />Hall Thursday, March 27. Mayor .Johnson reported that no citizens have requested <br />to participate in a Mounds View Bicentennial Committee. <br />
