State law now allows municipalities to deposit and earn <br />interest in passbook savings accounts. Current short <br />term (10 -90 days) government security yields are below <br />bank savings yield (5 Recommend Council authorize <br />staff to deposit idle funds in savings account with <br />First State Bank. of New Brighton whenever such will <br />produce a greater yield on idle cash and that any such <br />monies so deposited be protected by adequate pledge <br />of government securities by the Bank. <br />f. Safety Committee requests Council approval to expand <br />voting membership to include an employee from both <br />maintenance and police (presently just one). <br />
