January 2, 1979 <br />Page 2 <br />MSP (Hodges Ziebarth) to delay Council liaison assignments until <br />the January 22, 1979, regular meeting. <br />Councilmember Hodges indicated that the New Brighton Bulletin <br />and the First State Bank of New Brighton have served the City <br />well as long as he has been on the Council. <br />Councilmember Ziebarth asked Administrator Achen what his experience <br />has been with these two. Administrator Achen stated that both <br />have served the City well in the four and a half years he has <br />been with the City. <br />MSP (Forslund Rowley) to designate the New Brighton Bulletin as <br />the official newspaper and the First State Bank of New Brighton as <br />the official depository and Councilmember Hodges as Acting Mayor. <br />Mayor McCarty announced the January 3rd Charter Commission meeting <br />which will include a presentation by the League of Minnesota <br />Cities. <br />Mayor McCarty read a statement of the four themes he will pursue <br />as Mayor: more consistent and thorough communication of Council <br />activities to the community, active support of the City's efforts <br />to resolve the Anoka County Airport issue in the City's favor, <br />a deliberate approach to the issue of land development, and a <br />commitment to economy in government. <br />Councilmember Forslund suggested that each Councilmember serve as a <br />liaison to a department head.
