MOUNDS VIEW CITY COUNCIL Regular Meeting <br />March 24 1980 <br />Heads involved were Police, Parks <br />Recreation and Finance. <br />Page 2 <br />Chief Grabowski presented his report 4. CHIEF OF POLICE <br />to the City Council. He noted the 1st QUARTER REPORT <br />Department was planning a Bicycle <br />Safety Program and Seminars on Drug <br />Abuse. He further noted that the City <br />had ordered and expects new squad <br />cars on or about mid April. He stated that <br />presently in order to maintain his <br />quarterly gas allotment he had modified <br />some of his patroling techniques, but <br />had not reduced protection to the public. <br />He also noted that the Lion's Club had <br />donated a respirator and a first aid <br />kit to the department. <br />Anderson, the Director of Park, Recre- 5. PARK RECREATION DEPT. <br />ation and Forestry outlined what the <br />Park Commission had done during the <br />first quarter of 1980. Anderson stated <br />that the commission and department had <br />done a Park Survey to test the attitudes <br />of the public regarding Park improvements. <br />He had also been dealing with the School <br />District on a Joint Powers Agreement for <br />maintenance and use of facilities at <br />Edgewood Junior High. He noted to the <br />Council that his department was also <br />responsible for the newsletter which <br />had 2 publications in the first quarter. <br />Finally, that he had had an intern from <br />St. Cloud State during the first quarter <br />who had just completed his quarter with <br />the City. <br />Before beginning discussion what his <br />department would accomplish in the next <br />quarter, Anderson brought up the subject <br />of satellites to be placed in the parks <br />for the summer program. He reminded the <br />Council that this item had been cut from <br />the budget, but felt that there was a <br />critical need to have these facilities <br />placed in the park for the summer program. <br />The cost of these satellites are $1600.00 <br />for the summer. <br />
