MOUNDS VIEW CITY COUNCIL January 26, 1981 <br />Regular Meeting Page Eight <br />Mayor McCarty: <br />1. The Suburban Rate Authority met on January <br />21st and Mayor McCarty stated there is some <br />preliminary work that the city staff will be <br />doing to prepare for future discussion with them. <br />2. The Mayor discussed the special meeting <br />held on January 25th where they viewed the St. Croix <br />Girl Scout Center and also had an opportunity to <br />discuss goals and policies for the new council. <br />He will be reporting on this soon (possibly <br />submitting the report for next week's agenda <br />session). <br />Mr. Miller (Development Proposal Case 47 -80) <br />interjected at this point asking Council if his <br />hearing scheduled for March 9th could be scheduled <br />sooner than that. The Council indicated to Mr. Miller <br />that they could not act on unapproved minutes of <br />the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission <br />would approve the minutes of their January meeting <br />on February 9th and the Council would then set the <br />hearing for March 9th. <br />Clerk- Administrator Pauley: 17. REPORT OF THE CLERK- <br />ADMINISTRATOR <br />1. He distributed some copies of pages that were <br />missing from the code book to the Council. <br />2 He is a Suburban Rate Authority Subcommittee <br />member and the Subcommittee is trying to determine what <br />level of authority they should take in the Metropoli- <br />tan Waste Control activities, particularly the rate <br />structure. Theie will be tour of the Pig's Rye <br />plant on January 29th at 1:00 P.M. if council members <br />or department heads are interested in attending. <br />3. He reviewed the content of his administrative <br />newsletter that Council received on January 26, 1981 <br />regarding the Fire Department contract negotiations. <br />The Fire Department's concerns were that they do not <br />have other sources of funds other than the contract <br />payments from the three cities and the Anoka /Blaine <br />Airport. If their expenses should exceed their <br />budgeted revenues, they would be unable to tap into <br />other sources of funds to assist in these cost over- <br />runs.
