Mounds View City Council August 9, 1982 <br />Regular Meeting Page Six <br />factors that interplay, the Stanton Salary Survey, <br />which is the accepted .tedium which would be used <br />for a person who was just hired, ver an employee <br />of long standing. He stated the Council had gone <br />through this with an employee in the Finance Depart- <br />ment earlier and had come to an acceptable solution. <br />Mayor McCarty recommended the Council set the salary <br />level that someone for the Building Inspector position <br />would be hired for, and then separately consider the <br />salary for the person on board, taking into considera- <br />tion his experience and additional duties and expertise. <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Forslund to table until August <br />17, at which time the salary level will be set by <br />policy, and during the interium, the present policy <br />will remain in force. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Director Johnson reported that due to Steve Rose's <br />long term involvement with the Silver Lake Woods <br />project, it was impossible for the other Staff to <br />handle it, per the reorganization, and they had to <br />rely on Mr. Rose for his knowledge and experience <br />Mayor McCarty replied that prior to the reorganization <br />of Staff, they had had one .ndividual involved in <br />projects from beginning to end, which would have left <br />the City in trouble if he had left. He stated that <br />they are now spreading the responsibilties among <br />three people, and agrees they should pay fairly, which <br />will retain good employees and maintain a high morale. <br />Councilmember Forslund agreed that all information <br />should be made available before setting the salary. <br />Mayor McCarty reported he had read the proposal <br />and was willing to tell the County they were in <br />full support of it. <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Blanchard to notify the <br />County that the City has made a final determination <br />on the landfill abatement proposal, and they are <br />in support of the concept as presented. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Forslund to approve the <br />letter to Mr. Raymond Glumack, dated August 9, <br />1982, and have Staff forward it to the Metro- <br />politan Airports Commission. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion Carried <br />12.
