PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />Mr. Frank presented Mayor McCarty with a check <br />for $1500, to cover the cost of the publication of <br />the ordinance, as required by the charter. He <br />gave some background on Group W, explaining that <br />they are the third largest provider of cable <br />services in America, and the largest in Minnesota, <br />and then played a video presentation, explaining <br />the proposed cable system. <br />All members of the audience were given a brochure, <br />explaining the system and answering questions on <br />it, and Mr. Skelly and the members of Group W <br />were asked many questions, to which they provided <br />answers. <br />DATE APPROVED: 11/8/82 <br />Regular Meeting <br />October 25, 1982 <br />Edgewood Community Resource Center <br />Mounds View, MN 55112 <br />The Mounds View City Council was called to order 1. Call to Order <br />by Mayor McCarty at 7:30 PM. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilmembers Forslund, Blanchard, 2. Roll Call <br />Doty, Hodges and Mayor McCarty. <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Attorney Meyers, Clerk/ <br />Administrator Pauley and Public Works /Community <br />Development Director Johnson. <br />Mayor McCarty closed the regular meeting and opened 3. Public Hearing <br />the public hearing at 7:31 PM. Cable TV <br />Jerry Skelly, chairman of the Cable TV Committee <br />in Mounds View, explained that the Mounds View <br />Cable Committee had been formed two and a half <br />years ago, and after some assessment, had joined <br />the North Suburban Cable Commission. Mr. Skelly <br />introduced the members present of Group W, a <br />subsidiary of Westinghouse Corporation, Roger <br />Frank, Bob Klucas, Ron Abrahms, Dave Lebedof, and <br />Tom Creighton. <br />They explained that the system is promised for the <br />entire nine suburbs within 18 months, with some <br />of those suburbs being operational in twelve <br />months, from the time of approval by the Minnesota Cable <br />Board, which is expected on November 18. The <br />dividing line in Mounds View for the two time <br />periods is County Road I. The lines will be both <br />underground and above ground, depending upon the <br />topography, with approximately 20% being underground. <br />
