Mounds View City Council April 11, 1983 <br />Regular Meeting Page Four <br />Finance Director Brager reported they are seeking <br />proposals for group health and life insurance <br />coverage. He also reported the department will be <br />working on getting the micro processor going, and <br />could possibly be able to use it on doing the debt <br />study. He reported they would be looking into it <br />further. <br />Finance Director Brager reported he will be meeting <br />with a civic consortium at the school district, as <br />well as other municipalities, to work on joint <br />purchase arrangements. <br />Mayor McCarty asked that the Council receive copies <br />of bids for the insurance proposals before Finance <br />Director Brager meets with representatives of the <br />insurance companies, as well as any pertinent comments. <br />Finance Director Brager replied he would provide them <br />to the Council ahead of time. <br />Mayor McCarty asked if, in purchasing software, the <br />system the City has just purchased, will be helpful. <br />Finance Director Brager replied it would. Clerk/ <br />Administrator Pauley added that the program to do <br />a debt study could cost between $500 and $1,000, while <br />the study itself usually costs $3,000. <br />Park Director Anderson reported the Forestry Department <br />has completed the wood inspection program, and found <br />a great reduction in disease versus five years ago. He <br />reported they have completed the plantings plans for <br />each park and have just started the actual planting, <br />He reported the Park Department has wrapped up Silverview <br />Park, Phase I, and will be ready for Phase II when the <br />funding becomes available. Park Director Anderson <br />reported he had attended a conference on a child's right <br />to play, at which Paul Hougen spoke. He reported Mr. <br />Hougen came out to check the tot lots in the City, <br />and he will be bringing Mr. Hougcn's recommendation to <br />the Park Commission. He reported three new warming houses <br />had been added at the skating rinks, and in the future, <br />residents will be helping with the flooding of the <br />rinks, maintenance and supervision of the warming houses. <br />In the Recreation Department, two Newsletters were <br />published, with the May /June one almost ready to go to <br />the printer. He reported work on the Festival in the <br />Park is progressing. <br />Park Director Anderson reported the adult softball <br />program is getting larger every year, with 15 -20 teams <br />being turned away this year, and they have doubled <br />the fee for outsiders. <br />He reported that for the swimming program, he had some <br />additional information for the Council, and he had <br />
