Mounds View City Council Januar7 23, 1984 <br />Regular Meeting Page Nine <br />Mayor McCarty reported the Planning Commission is <br />recommending the Council appoint all three applicants <br />to the Planning Commission, and expand the Planning <br />Commission to 9 members once again. <br />Councilmember Blanchard stated she was opposed to <br />expanding the Commission to 9 members, based on her <br />own experience of being on the Commission when they <br />had 9 members, and having trouble getting enough <br />together for a quorum, and that it was very difficult <br />to work with that many people. <br />Councilmember Linke stated he agreed with Councilmember <br />Blanchard's feelings. <br />Councilmember Doty stated he agreed with Councilmember <br />Blanchard also. <br />Councilmember Hankner pointed out that the request <br />to expand to 9 members was coming from the Planning <br />Commission itself, and perhaps they felt there was a <br />commitment from the members. <br />Mayor McCarty stated he could remember the problems <br />of having so many on the Planning Commission, but asked <br />that Staff contact Peg Mountin and convey the Councii's <br />thoughts and questions, for the Planning Commission's <br />response. <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Doty that it Le the stated <br />policy that all resolutions and /or ordinances be <br />placed first in line on the agenda, as far as <br />practical. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley explained the criteria <br />used in setting the agenda. <br />Motion Carried <br />CLerk /Administrator Pauley advised the Council of 20. Report of <br />an article in the Met Council Newsletter, regarding Administrator <br />the racetrack and interaction between the racetrack <br />and airport. He stated Staff will be obtaining <br />whatever written reports are available. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reported he would have <br />Staff contact the Highway Department regarding the <br />status of Highway 10. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley advised the Council <br />that they are working toward hiring an energy <br />'coordinator, in conjunction with Blaine, and he <br />will keep them advised of the status. <br />
