Mounds View City Council February 13, 1984 <br />Regular Meeting Page Two <br />Mr. Petrini asked if Mr. Beutel was empioyed by <br />the City. Mayor McCarty replied he was not, that <br />he is a member of the Task Force. He added the <br />Council is looking for a consultant with pro- <br />fessional credentials to critique the Master Plan <br />of the Anoka County Airport, as adopted, to <br />help the City substantiate their claims. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley added the City has sub- <br />mitted requests to 27 national firms, asking for <br />their bid on reviewing the plan, and so far have <br />heard from 10 who said no, and one who is interested. <br />Councilmember Hankner stated the Council has autho- <br />rized Staff to find a consultant, but not to hire <br />them, and that the Council will review the applications <br />first. She also reviewed some of the questions the <br />Council would like answered. <br />Mr. Petrini pointed out the instrument landing system <br />has been approved by MAC, and would then be turned <br />over to the FAA, and questioned why the City doesn't <br />fight the airport on an environmental basis. <br />Mayor McCarty agreed that the environmental issue <br />is very important, and that the Council will advise <br />the consultant of what the Council's stand is, and <br />ask how they could help substantiate it. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley advised Mr. Petrini he <br />would provide him with a ccpy of the letter sent to <br />the consulting firms. He also explained that the City <br />should not fight the battle on the environmental issue <br />alone, but rather on the many issues involved, so that <br />if they lose in one area, there are still others to <br />work on. <br />The Council thanked Mr. Beutel for his presentation. <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Doty to approve the Consent <br />Agenda, minus Items D, E and H, and waive the read- <br />ing of the resolutions. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Mayor McCarty explained that for items D and E, he <br />would like to give direct recognition to the indi- <br />viduals involved. <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Linke to approve the <br />appointment of Mr. Robert Beutel and Mr. Russell <br />Warren to one year terms and Mr. Stephen Lauterback <br />and Ms. Maribeth Margo to two year terms on the Energy <br />Council, and the appointment of Mr. Beutel as <br />Chairperson. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />6.
