Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />and pedestrians to cross the highway for the <br />beach and recreational facilities on the other side. <br />Councilmember Hankner suggested some things that <br />could be done to help control the traffic at that <br />location, such as signage, not allowing traffic <br />from the frontage road onto Pleasant View, and so <br />forth. <br />Mayor Linke reminded the residents that the purpose <br />of the meeting ig for the Council to get input from <br />them, and the Council has not yet made a decision. <br />Mrs. Davis stated she was sensing a trade -off, and <br />they were just moving the hazardous area, since it <br />would be beneficial to Spring Lake Park. <br />Councilmember Haake stated she was familiar with the <br />issue as she had been on the Planning Commission in <br />1977 when it was first discussed. She stated that <br />while she does not want to be an unfriendly neighbor <br />to Spring Lake Park, Pleasant View Drive is a very <br />nice road and she would like to study all the <br />alternatives before making any decision. <br />March 25, 1985 <br />Page Four <br />r'- ►n- "T ►T�r. �.n -r r.T <br />Mayor Linke Linke reminded the residents that the Council <br />would not be making a decision tonight but would be <br />sitting down later to discuss all aspects. <br />Don Masterson, Mayor of Spring Lake Park, stated <br />chat the side effects are a very unfortunate situation <br />and he hopes Mounds View will look at the alternatives <br />to lower the impact. He added the stoplight is <br />critical to the long term safety of the general area, <br />and while he agreed it is primarily a Spring Lake <br />Park problem, it does involve Mounds View also. He <br />added that the cost to Spring Lake Park will be <br />approximately $100,000 but if they had to purchase <br />the commercial property, it would be several hundred <br />thousand dollars. <br />Mayor Linke closed the public hearing at 8:26 PM and <br />reopened the regular meeting. <br />Mayor Linke reviewed the purpose of the consent agenda <br />for those present. <br />Motion /Second: Hankner /Blanchard to approve the <br />consent agenda, as presented, and waive the reading <br />of the resolutions. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />9.
