Mounds View City Council December 8, 1986 <br />Regular Meeting Page Two <br />Motion /Second: Haake /nuick to approve the consent <br />agenda, as presented, and waive the reading of the <br />resolutions. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley explained the need for the <br />reapportionment of assessments for certain areas of <br />Silver Lake Woods. He added this is a housekeeping <br />item only. <br />Motion /Second: Haake /Blanchard to approve Resolutions <br />No. 2131, 2132, 2133, 2134, 2135, 2136 and 2137, for <br />the reapportionment of assessments for Silver Lake <br />Woods, and waive the reading. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Councilmember Quick reviewed the recommendation of <br />the Park and Rec committee for the reorganization of <br />the Park and Rec department. <br />Motion /Second: Quick /Haake to approve the reorganiza- <br />tion of the Park and Rec Department, and appoint Mary <br />Saarion Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director at a <br />annual salary of $32,000 with a six month probationary <br />period, effective December 1, 1986, and eliminate the <br />positions of Recreation Supervisor and Parks, Recrea- <br />tion and Forestry Secretary, and create the part -time <br />position of Senior Citizen /Trips Coordinator at an <br />annual salary of $6,000 and authorize Mary Saarion to <br />interview applicants and recommend an individual to <br />the City Council. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion /Second: Quick /Blanchard to appoint Sharon Linke <br />Administrative Assistant for the Parks, Recreation and <br />Forestry Department at an annual salary of $20,000 <br />with a six month probationary period, effective <br />December 1, 1986. <br />4 ayes <br />0 nays 1 abstention <br />Mayor Linke abstained from the vote per the recommenda- <br />tion of City Attorney Meyers as Sharon Linke is his <br />wife, and he did not want it to appear that there may have <br />been any conflict of interest or favoritism shown. <br />Director Thatcher had no report. <br />6.
