Mounds View City Council May 26, 1987 <br />Regular Meeting Page Six <br />Mr. Casey stated the drainage does not seem to run <br />smoothly through the area now. <br />Mayor Linke explained it was determined no excavation <br />work was needed in Mr. Casey's yard, and they will <br />have someone from the Public Works department go over <br />with a rake and smooth out the area where the equipment <br />may have gone. <br />Park Director Mary Saarion explained the portable 13. Continue <br />classroom is now sitting on City Hall property while Discussion <br />the Council makes a decision where to place it. She Regarding <br />stated the Park and Rec Commission would recommend as Location of <br />first choice that it be placed at Random Park, or Portable <br />second choice, at Oakwood Park. Classroom <br />Building <br />Councilmember Hankner stated that in reading over the <br />minutes of the meetings she hadn't attended, she felt <br />there was opposition from the people living in the <br />immediate area of Random Park, and she would like a <br />survey done over the next few weeks, to find out the <br />best use of the facility is and what the needs are. <br />She added that she would be willing to personally take <br />care of the survey, and knock on doors and get the <br />residents opinions. <br />Mayor Linke stated this item has been postponed many <br />times already, and the Council has discussed it <br />thoroughly, and while he understands that Councilmember <br />Hankner's schedule did not allow her to participate <br />in those discussions, he feels it is time for a <br />decision to be made tonight. <br />Councilmember Quick stated he feels there is room to <br />do a study and identify what the needs are. <br />Director Saarion explained she does not have a list of <br />groups ready who would be using the building and when, <br />but she does know who has a need for it. <br />Motion /Second: Quick /Hankner to table discussion on <br />this item until June 8, 1987. <br />3 ayes <br />2 nays Motion Carried <br />Councilmember Blanchard and Mayor Linke voted against <br />the motion. <br />Councilmember Quick stated he was comfortable with <br />tabling the discussion as it would give Councilmember <br />Hankner enough time to answer her questions. <br />
