Mounds View City Council June 22, 1987 <br />Regular Meeting Page Four <br />'..Mayor Linke explained they are not changing the existing <br />building but rather requesting to add a gas station, <br />which must come under current code. <br />Mr. Ickers stated they can only get so many parking <br />spaces on the property, and he had counted only 12 <br />spaces at the new Super America in Mounds View, which is <br />a much larger facility. He also pointed out there is <br />a fence at the back of the property line with a small <br />green area behind it, and for lighting they are proposing <br />downward illuminating, to be placed on the canopy only. <br />Mayor Linke pointed out that this site just does not <br />have the room to do many of the things that are required. <br />Councilmember Wuori asked if security lighting would be <br />provided for the parking spaces in the back of the store. <br />John Hanson, the owner of the building, stated there are <br />no lights in back now, but there are some on the west <br />end of the store. Mr. Ickers stated they could be added <br />if necessary. <br />Bernie Jenson, 5016 Clifton Drive, stated he was in favor <br />of having the gas pumps installed, for convenience. <br />;Jack Anderson, 2557 Sherwood Road, stated he would like to <br />see the gas pumps installed for convenience also. <br />Miles Doyle, 2325 Oakwood, stated he agreed and would like <br />to see gas pumps installed. <br />The resident of 2167 Pinewood, stated he would like to see <br />gas pumps installed, as Tom Thumb is open 365 days a year <br />and this would be convenient. <br />John Moe, 7643 Edgewood, stated Tom Thumb has been a good <br />neighbor and he is in favor of the installation as it <br />would be convenient. <br />Dave Coffey, 2757 NE Hillview, stated the signatures were <br />placed on the peition because the people want the pumps <br />installed. <br />Doug Buetner, 5551 St. Michael, pointed out there is only <br />one gas station along County Road I going toward 35W, and <br />he will not attempt to cross Highway 10 to get gas. <br />Mr. Hanson stated he had lived in Mounds View for eight <br />years, and at the time he franchised the store, no store <br />was selling both gas and groceries, and now he needs to <br />make a change in order to stay in business. <br />
