Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />Clerk /Administrator explained the purpose of <br />proposed Ordinance No. 426, which allows a street <br />name change, based on the request of the developer. <br />Motion /Second: Wuori /Blanchard to have the second <br />reading and adoption of Ordinance No. 426, amending <br />the Municipal Code of Mounds View by amending <br />Chapter 46 entitled "Street Names and waive the <br />reading. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Councilmember <br />Councilmember <br />Councilmember <br />Councilmember <br />Mayor Linke <br />Wuori aye <br />Quick aye <br />Hankner aye <br />Blanchard aye <br />aye <br />Motion /Second: Blanchard /Quick to approve <br />Resolution No. 2242, certifying the 1988 general fund <br />and forestry property tax levies, and waive the <br />reading. <br />Mr. Frits stated $135,000 is included in that budget <br />for the pipeline lawsuit and he asked what the City <br />hopes for the outcome. <br />Attorney Meyers explained the lawsuit seeks removal <br />or replacement of the existing line and recovery of <br />damages sustained by the City, punitive damages and <br />recovery of legal and expert witness fees. <br />Mr. Frits stated he does not feel Williams Pipeline <br />has any intention of removing the line, as they are <br />replacing just certain sections now, and he feels <br />they have no fear of the City of Mounds View, with <br />the procedures they are following now, such as not <br />hydrostatically testing the work that is being done. <br />He added he feels the lawsuit is a waste of the tax- <br />payers money. <br />Mayor Linke stated he personally feels he must protect <br />the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the <br />City, and something must be done, and they are proceed- <br />ing with the lawsuit. <br />Motion /Second: Hankner /Quick to adopt Resolution <br />No. 2241 certifying the 1988 bonds and interest tax <br />levy, and waive the reading. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />September 28, <br />Page Four <br />10.
