Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />City Planner Herman reviewed overhead sketches of the <br />location of the property within the City, as well as <br />the proposed site plan. She stated the Planning <br />Commission has reviewed the request and recommends <br />approval. <br />It was noted Mr. Raes was not present, and there were <br />no comments or questions from anyone present. <br />Mayor Linke closed the public hearing and reopened <br />the regular meeting at 7:18 PM. <br />There were no residents requests or comments from <br />the floor. <br />Mary Bradley, representing the PTA of Pinewood <br />Elementary School made a presentation to the Council <br />of their proposal to construct a new, playground at <br />Pinewood. She reviewed the process that would be <br />followed from start to finish, and stated the <br />architect would be in town on November 18 to have <br />the meeting to gather input, and would be presenting <br />them with the first schematic drawings of the <br />proposed playground, and at that point they would <br />know how much money would need to be raised. <br />Ms. Bradley invited the Council to attend the <br />evening meeting on November 18 and asked them to <br />become as involved as possible. She stated they <br />would like to see a strong effort on both the part <br />of those involved with the Pinewood School, and the <br />City of Mounds View. She added they would appreciate <br />any help the Council could give with the funding, <br />and they hope to actually build the playground over <br />a four day period next spring. <br />The Council stated they were interested in the project <br />and as many as possible woui.1 attend the November 18 <br />meeting. <br />Councilmember Wuori stated the school district did <br />a survey last year, which the PTA might want to look <br />at, regarding the perceived needs of the community. <br />Ms. Bradley stated they would like to know if there <br />is a need for handicapped facilities at the playground, <br />as it is more expensive to allow for that, but they <br />would be willing to provide it if the need is there. <br />Councilmember Hankner suggested Ms. Bradley check with <br />both the school district and the Development Achievement <br />Center, as they would know what those needs are. <br />October 26, 1987 <br />Page Three <br />9.
