Mounds View City Council April 25, 1988 <br />Regular Meeting Page Seven <br />Attorney Meyers had no report. <br />Councilmember Blanchard had no report. <br />Councilmember Wuori asked how high the piles of sand <br />would be getting at the Mounds View Business Park. <br />Tim Nelson, of Everest Development, stated they <br />should not be getting any higher and should start <br />going down. He added they have placed "keep out" <br />signs, hoping to keep youth out of the construction <br />area. <br />Councilmember Quick had no report. <br />Mayor Linke reminded everyone of the penny jugs <br />located throughout the City for the Pinewood Playground <br />project, and he also reminded everyone of Clean -Up <br />Day, which is scheduled for May 7. <br />Mayor Linke reported the recycling program will begin <br />in June, and pick -up will be the third Tuesday of each <br />month, for paper, cans, bottles and plastics. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reported flyers would be <br />out soon, describing the recycling program, and he <br />strongly urged residents to take part in the program, <br />as everyone must work to reduce the amount of garbage <br />going tv the landfills. <br />Clerk /Administrator Paul,ly reported that two weeks ago <br />there had been a report of the smell of oil in a local <br />pond, and upon investigation by Williams Pipeline Co. <br />and the Police and Public Works, it was discovered <br />that fuel oil had been dumped into the sewer line by <br />someone. He reported that Williams assisted in the <br />clean -up and he also pointed out the City provides a <br />free dump site for used crank case oil at the Public <br />Works garage. Clerk /Administrator Pauley emphasized <br />the sanitary sewers are not for the disposal of toxic <br />wastes, and the danger of people abusing the use of <br />them. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reported Everest Development <br />'zas requested a temporary occupancy permit for 5201 <br />Program Avenue, and he reviewed the contingencies <br />recommended by the Building Inspector and the work to <br />be completed yet.
