Page 3 <br />February 24, 1997 <br />Mounds View City Council <br />of the City Council's displeasure with the overage of the project and ask that next year's levy be reduced by the <br />$129,000 which he feels would be the most direct way of handling it. <br />MOTION/SECOND: McCarty/Trude to direct staff to prepare appropriate correspondence for forwarding to <br />the Rice Creek Watershed District and the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. <br />VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Don Heresu, 2260 Buckingham Lane, asked that the Council consider providing a sound barrier between the <br />trucking company and the south edge of Townsedge Terrace to help with noise in their park from the trucks. <br />He would also ask the City Council to work with Ramsey County and the City of New Brighton for a fence on <br />the West end of Townsedge Terrace. He also wished to commend the Mounds View Police Department for <br />their response to a recent problem at their park. <br />Mayor McCarty stated he would look at Mr. Heresu's requests along with city staff and will respond as soon as <br />possible. <br />Cameron Obert, 8315 Greenwood Drive, asked for a brief update on the Anoka County Airport and MAC's <br />response to the city's correspondence. <br />• Bob Long, City Attorney, provided an update, stating that the City Council drafted and sent a letter to MAC, <br />objecting to their updated Comprehensive Plan. To date, they have not responded to the letter and he would <br />suggest that the City Council request that MAC be present at one of the next City Council meetings and provide <br />a response to the Council's concerns. <br />Mayor McCarty asked that the Clerk Administrator send a letter to MAC requesting their presence at an <br />upcoming City Council meeting. <br />Ed LeTendre, 2088 Rustad Lane, introduced the Council to some young residents who were in attendance and <br />wished to address the Council about a Community Center. <br />Mikandra Ristow, 2103 Cornell Drive, stated a group of youth have accumulated over fourteen pages of <br />community service hours that they have put in at the Bel Rae. She provided a petition containing <br />approximately 60 signatures of people who would like to see the Bel Rae used as a Community Center. She <br />stated they would all appreciate the Council's consideration in this matter. <br />Megan Ristow, 2103 Cornell Drive, stated the Community Center provides youth with an alternative to being <br />out on the streets and she would like to see the Bel Rae used as a community center. Mike Ristow, on behalf <br />of many other residents, thanked Ed LeTendre for all that he has done for Mounds View. <br />Public Hearing and )<ntroduction for brat reading of Ordinance No. 596, Amending Section 1106.02, <br />Subd 2 and 3 of the Mounda View ZoninE Code to Allow Eight Children in Family Foater Homea: <br />Mayor McCarty opened the Public Hearing at 7:36 p.m. <br />
