• Page 6 <br />August 26, 1996 <br />Mounds View City Council <br />Mr. Whiting explained that this resolution is in support of a cooperative grant to the Metropolitan <br />Council between the Cities of Mounds View, Arden Hilts, New Brighton, Shoreview, Blaine and Roseville. <br />The idea is to apply for the funds to help develop the I-35 Corridor for housing, economic development, <br />GIS data gathering and data base sharing and other related items of interest. He noted that the application <br />is due by August 30, 1996. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Hankner to Approve Resolution No. 4984, Supporting Cooperative Livable <br />Cities Demonstration Grant Application to Metropolitan Council for I-35W Corridor Coalition Planning <br />Activities. <br />Ms. Trade asked if a match is required for this grant or if it is 100% funded. Mr. Whiting noted it is 100% <br />. funded but there is some work required by the administrative staff. <br />VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />C. Consideration of Resolution No. 5000, Authorizing the Scheduling of Certain Meetings of <br />Resident Groups in the Bel Rae. <br />• Ms. Trade read Resolution No. 5000 <br />MOTION/SECOND: TrudeBlanchard to Approve Resolution No. 5000, Authorizing the Scheduling of <br />Certain Meetings of Residential Groups in the Bel Rae. <br />Ms. Hankner noted that she interpreted "Residential" to mean overnight. She stated she would feel more <br />comfortable if "Residential" was changed to "Resident" in both the title of the Resolution and in the fmal <br />paragraph of the resolution. <br />Ms. Trade stated she would be agreeable to the change. <br />Ms. Hankner stated she understood that at the time this issue was last discussed, staff was asked to go back <br />and determine what an appropriate damage deposit would be for the building. She has not received any <br />information back from the staff on this. <br />Ms. Trade explained that this resolution would allow a meeting place for groups such as Crime Watch, <br />Homeowner Associations, etc., who would not be holding a party. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Hankner to table Resolution No. 5000. <br />VOTE: 2 ayes 3 nays Motion FAILS <br />Mr. Quick asked if the rooms currently used by the groups are no longer available. <br />Ms. Trade explained that the Bel Rae facility would provide more space. <br />Mr. Quick stated he has not been made aware of any need for additional space. If additional space is <br />needed, why hasn't the Park & Recreation Department made the Council aware of it? <br />
