• Page 9
February 12, 1996
Mounds View City Council
1. Report of Council members:
Quick: Council member Quick asked about the progress of the brush removal from the ice storm.
Mike Ulrich stated the clean up had been temporarily stopped during the extremely cold
weather. He believes they will be going through the city one more time.
Hankner asked what will be done about those limbs which cannot be removed until the
snow thaws enough to allow for them to be. She feels the city may want to consider having
some sort of collection area for those branches in the Spring as well.
Mr. Fritz, 8072 Long Lake Road, stated he felt the company who collected the brush did a "lousy job".
The branches that were not picked up by the contractor will now cost the residents $20.00 on the Spring Clean
Up Day.
Mayor Linke explained that the council has not decided if there will be a charge for the brush removal in the
Spring. He noted that the brush and limbs must be brought to the curbside in order for the contractor to pick
them up.
. Blanchard: No report.
Hankner: No report
Trude: No report.
Report of Mayor Linke: Mayor Linke explained that the Charter Commission has sent a copy of the City
Charter to the Council and he feels a time should be set up for the Council to go over it and to set up Public
Hearings, etc. He asked that Mr. Harrington see that ample copies are available to the Council members for
review at their work session.
Mayor Linke also noted that the owner of the BelRae Ballroom has approached the City of Mounds View to see
if they would be interested in purchasing the property. The city is currently looking at the proposal and noted
that it would fill some of the things that the Focus 2000 residents said they would like for the city and it would
fill the need for working with some of the youth in the community, the school district for Early Childhood
Development, etc. He feels it is a very positive issue and a golden opportunity.
Report of Administrator: No report.
The next Council meeting is schedule for Monday, February 26, 1996. The next Council work session is
scheduled for Monday, March 4, 1996.
Mayor Linke adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m
Respectfully submitted,
•
