~1PPR0'JED <br />Mounds View City Council Page 8 <br />Regular Meeting July 17, 1995 <br />1 Councilmember Hankner commented that it was reported at a <br />2 previous meeting that surrounding cities were also looking at <br />3 purchasing similar systems. <br />4 <br />5 Ulrich reported that New Brighton went to touch read last <br />6 year. Mounds went to touch read. Arden Hills is looking at an <br />7 AMR system and St. Paul/Minneapolis is looking at phone read. <br />8 <br />9 Hankner asked if it were decided to replace meters, is there <br />10 a chance that perhaps we could join into the process with <br />it Arden Hills. <br />12 d,,,..s <br />13 Councilmember Trude commented that she had spoken to Arden <br />14 Hills Councilmembers and that they have taken no action, <br />15 therefore, this means that there is no time parameters for <br />26 Mounds View. <br />17 <br />18 Councilmember Blanchard stated that she agreed with <br />19 Councilmember Trude in that the Council should take no action <br />20 on this item tonight and get information out to the Public. <br />21 Blanchard stated that the Council should postpone for one <br />2 month and get information to the public. <br />Councilmember Hankner stated that the City should look into <br />25 what neighboring cities are buying for future reasons such as <br />26 possible integration. <br />27 <br />28 Councilmember Quick asked how many meters could the City <br />29 continue to use? <br />30 <br />31 Mike Ulrich stated approximately $100. ';;°~'~ <br />32 <br />33 Rodney Kirtz, 2808 Ardan asked if there is such a thing as a <br />34 laser gun read. <br />35 <br />36 Mike Ulrich replied that what this probably is, is a radio <br />37 read through a drive by. <br />38 <br />39 Kirtz also commented that he is a builder and that a lot of <br />40 the communities that he does work in are putting exterior <br />41 readers on the house. 90~ of the builders are installing the <br />42 readers. <br />43 <br />44 Kirtz asked how many commercial meters are in the City? <br />45 <br />46 Linke commented that phone readers would be approximately <br />47 $300/household which two-thirds of the meters will need to be <br />replaced. <br />4 <br />
