Our ability
to present the Commiss2on's basis for our recammendatzon woutd assist th Cauncil in
your decision making role, and we would be present to answer questions from City
Council about iow we arrived at this recommendation. We have been concerned in the
past that applicants have sometimes misrepresented what happened at the Planning
Commission meeting in their comments to the City Council.
2. We agree that an annual or biannual joint meeting of the Planning Comm.ission a.nd City
Council would aid in the communication of goals and objectives. One af these meetings
couId include a tour of te city, during which significant development sites could be
viewed as weIi as the physical resutts of previous Commission and Council decisions. The
tour may not be necessary every year and could be planned as development dictates.
It has been the Council's praciice in the past Co hold a discussion of goals and issues each
year with the Commissions, and we would urge that this be coninued.
We see a lot of potential in the idea of joint meetings between the Pianning Commission
and the Economic Development Commission wherz a project needs to be reviewed by both
bodies. We would Iike to meet with the EDC to deveIop this idea further.
4- We would appreciate receiving the minutes from the EDC as a way to stay informed about
potential deveiopment projects.
Sincerely,
MOUNDS VIEV PLANNING CONINIISSION
Jerry Peterson, Chairman
'j
l
