He said it was very similar to
the sign ai Iendota Piza. He pointed out tha# signs and the size of the
lettering are sized by traffic engirreers baed on fhe locaiion of ti sign and
distance to motorists.
Discussion continued between the applicant and the Planning Commissior
regarding the similarities af the Nlendota sign and fhe proposed sign for tViounds
View Square.
Crrrsslonr Johnsion expressed concern with he possibility of other
Mounds View Square tenants requesting separaie signage for their businesse.
He asked far more information on how a sign program would work. A comment
was made thafi a sign program is a comprehensive package could include
signage for irdividual tenants, signs at enirances, an overall center identification
sign, signs for pad sifies. A commenf ws made #hat ii is simiir to a PUD for
signs.
Commessioner rasaeml asked about he signage for the other pad sites.
The applicant indicafied thai tenants are often demanding and want pale signs,
but if a locaiion is very desirabfe, they are willing to us monumeni signs.
Cammissioner Brasaemle wanted all of the signs expected on the site to be
addressed at the same time.
Corrrrrlpsir►e° Obert expressed his concern how this sign propasa{ would
relte fio the entire picture along Highway 10.
irecfior Sheldon roted that the City Counil expects fo hire consulfiant t work
on desigrs for fhe secfiion of Highway 10 narfh of iViounds View Square, and ary
design iheme they devlop for that section will probably be extended to the
south. She also noted that if the Planning Commission sefis a good standard or
this ifie, the City will be okay on other shopping certer sifes that propose new
signage.
ornrnisioer Oberi again expresed sore concen and thought the Planning
Corrtmission needs to make sure that these standards are sef high enough.
