At the November 5, 1997 meefing l wouid liice to begin <br />discussing the process of updating Mounds View's comprehensive plan. Specificaily, { <br />wouid like to review what a comprehensive plan is, the role of the planning commission in <br />the development and maintenance of the plan, the required elements of the plan, and the <br />status of the process to update Mounds View's Corr�prehensive Plan. <br />I have attached copies of sections of the Metropolitan Council's Locaf Planning Handbool< <br />which outline the required and optionai elements which need to be included in the <br />Comprehensive Pian. <br />I have also attached copies af documents which were originalfy prepared by Pam Sheldon. <br />These documents outline a proces5 to complete the update of the plan by the end of 1998. <br />Whi1e some of the items are in process, we are about 2 months behind at this point. <br />I would anticipate that there will be items refated to the comprehensive plan update on <br />most of the Pfanning Commission agendas from now until December of 1998. 1 thinl< this <br />will be an exciting and informative process. <br />STAF� RECOM6MEhlDATI�N <br />Communiiy Developmenf staff recommends that the Planning Cammission review and <br />discuss the attached materials and confirm the Comprehensive Plan update process. <br />Staff re�ort by: Rick japke; 717-4021 <br />P,ttachmenfis: Met Council guidelines on required elernents, work plan <br />N:\DATP�\G RO U PS\COM D�V�PLAN C�MM\11-5-9 7P.
