Mounds View Planning Commission <br />Regular Meeting <br />June 20, 2001 <br />Page 8 <br />� <br />Mr. Osterlund indicated that they have to wait to get in or out of the driveway because there are <br />cars lined up at the stop sign. He further indicated that even if there are only two cars in line the <br />end of their driveway is blocked. <br />Commissioner Scotch asked how long the property owner had lived in the hom�. <br />Ms. Osterlund indicated she had purchased the home one arid `a half (1 %z) years ago and <br />indicated that prior to that the house sat vacant for two and a'half (2 %z) years. <br />;. <br />Chair Stevenson asked how far the second driveway was located from the stop sign. <br />Mr. Osterlund indicated the second driveway is approximately fifi:y five (55). feet from the stop <br />sign. <br />,4 j <br />" 3 <br />Chair Stevenson inquired as to whether the property owner :�ould accass��their�garage from <br />Sherwood Road. ` &'' <br />.��= � • � <br />d:- y <br />� � f � <br />� ;.�: ��3 jj��p 1 � i� ;� . <br />Mr. Osterlund indicated they could not but noted that�they plan ta �ove�the garage in the fuhire <br />to face Sherwood Road. � `�' �`���� � � � '` � � � � � � <br />�:, :� ` _ � <br />�> <br />Mr. Osterltixid indicated he feels tkat being located on a comer` lot they need to spruce up their <br />yard and intend to do some landscapmg. He then'noted that��the driveway meets all the <br />requirements for curb cuts except it is the secorid curb cut on his property. He further noted that <br />according to the infozmatiori�he had obtainedtfrom the' City one curb cut per 125 feet of property <br />is allowed � � ��,:"�'��°:� <br />� _, <br />Mr. Osterlund state� he did not lcnow he needed a permit for the second curb cut. <br />� �� ��. �. <br />h' ' p , <br />Claude Wetterling of 2716 Sherwood Road indicated he had received a letter from Community <br />Development D�rector $ncson which indicated the driveway was illegal and the property owner <br />was to; stop using it immediately and not use it unnl the matter was resolved. He then indicated <br />thafi:it is an illegal driveway:'that they have continued to use and that was finished after being told <br />to stop and he feels the variarice should not be allowed. <br />Mr. Osterlund indicated it was not his fault the project was finished as he went to work and the <br />cU�i`,tractar arrived and finished the project before he could be told not to. <br />4 1�.. <br />'' £ i� i '. p %kf� i'' ;i"�� <br />Ch��r Stev�nson asked Community Development Director Ericson to comment on the staternent <br />"�"�one ctir�i`=cut per 125 feet of property." <br />Director Ericson clarified that the reference made is referring to the properiy elevation of a <br />parldng area which states that the property owner shall be allowed one parking access for every <br />125 feet of property. He then noted that this reference is intended to govern commercial <br />development as single family uses are allowed only one curb cut per City code. <br />1 <br />;3 <br />
