Treat all modes of #ransportation and facilities related to each as ona system to be <br />coordinated and rela#ed on a comprehensive basis. <br />b. The �ra��� system wi11 facilitate transportatian to <br />and from centers of activi within the comznunity. <br />c. The trans ortation s stem be desi ned to minimize unnecessar traffic flow in residential <br />nei�hborhoods. <br />Goal 2: Identify needed improvemen#s to the various elemen�s of the transportation systetn to provide <br />far safe and convenient movement by all rnodes. <br />Policies: a. Main#ain transportatio�i facilities to function in a manner compatible wi�h <br />adjacenfi land uses_ �When the function of a transportation facility has changed <br />over time to become incompatible with adjacent land uses, a pragram #o eliminate this - <br />incompatibility should be estabiished. �:'', <br />b. Hazardous and poorly designed and controlled intersections shall be improved on a <br />phased basis to increase the safety of pedestrians, bicvciists, and motorists alike. <br />c. Street safety shall be improved through street lighting, visibility, sign controls, elevated <br />pedestrian waikways and other such facilities when economically feasible and desirable <br />by the communitv. <br />d. Public signage shaIl be related to the overall system of streeY function and aoniroi. <br />e. Parlcing shall be Iimzted or prohibited along principal and �uinor arterzal roadways. <br />f. Establish and enforce standards and controls for business and advertisint <br />si�nin� and li�hting in arder to,�revent driver distraction and notential hazards. <br />,�. Encoura e com liance with traffic laws bv all modes of traffic. <br />Goal 3: Provide sufficient off-street parking to meet normal demands of ail types of land use. <br />Poticies: a. Pa1•lcing facilities shalI be developed so as to conserve land, promota joint use and <br />minimize conflicts with vehicular., pedestrian and bicycle traffic. <br />b. Minimize and redttce the demand and �•esulting requirements for parking through the <br />x'h <br />�`.. . <br />
