T�•eat atl modes of transportation and faciIities related io each as one system to be <br />coordinated and reIated on a comprehensive basis. <br />b, The ��► system wi11 facilita#e transportation to <br />and from centers of activitv with�n the community. <br />Goa12: Identify needed improvements ta the various elements of the fransportation system t� provide <br />for safe and convenient movement by aIl modes. <br />Poiicies: a. Maintain transportation facilities to function in a manner compatible wi#h <br />adjacent land uses, �e�e-When the function of a transportation facility has changed <br />over fima to become incompatible with adjacant land uses, a program io eliminate this <br />incompatibzlity should be established. <br />b. Hazardous and pooriy designed and con�rolled intersactions shall be improved on a <br />phased basis to increase the safety af pedestrians, bicvclists. and motorists alike. <br />c. Street safety shall be improved through street lighting, visibility, sign cantrols, eleva#ed <br />pedestxian waik�vays and other such facilities when economicatly feasible and desirable. <br />d. Public signage shall be reIated to the overail system of street function and control. <br />e. Parking shail be limited or prohibzted aiong principaI and minor arterial roadways. <br />f. Establisi� and enforce standards and contro�s for business and advertisin� <br />si i❑ and li htin in order to revent driver distracti�n and otential hazards. <br />Goal 3: Pxovide snfficient of�=street parking to meet normal demands of a11 types of land use. <br />olicies: a. Parking facilities shall be developed so as to conserve land, promote joint use and <br />minimize conflicts with vehicular., pedestriar� and bicycle fraffic. <br />b.1Vlinimize and reduce the dernand and resulting rec�uirements for parking through fhe <br />adequate provision of pedestrian ar�d bicycle facilities and through land use <br />development coordination„ � <br />9 � <br />..6:...�..� ..4:e.:4:�� <br />d � , <br />c.
