PffNUTES GF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />PARK 9ND REGREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VlEW <br />COlIIdTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />Regular Session <br />September 25, 1975 <br />City Hall <br />Ca11 to Order: The Mounds View Park and Recreation Crnmnission met in regular <br />session and was called to order by Chainuan Peterson at 7:05 P,M. <br />Ro11 Ca11: Ghairman Vern Peterson� Ca�issioners Wayne Surmeister� ,Iacque <br />Coplin� Gordon Fedor� Barb Haake� Kip Lundquist and Wayne Weflin. <br />Also present were Councilman Roger �aumgartner, Director� Doug <br />Bryant and Program Superisor Marcia deLaBruere. Special guest <br />�ras Landscape Architect Joht� Turrittin. <br />Approval of Motion by Coimnissioner Fedor and seconded by Coimnissioner Haake <br />Minutes to approve the minutes of the September 11, 1975 Special Meeting. <br />The motion passed unanimously. <br />Silverview or When the park north of H2 and east of Silver Lake Road was named <br />Silver View there was no determination made for the appropriate spelling. <br />Co�issioner Haake stated she felt the citizens would relate more <br />to a park title of two words, Si1ve:: View, as is the city title� <br />Mounds View. <br />Co�issioner Peterson suggested looking at the Name-A-Park ballets. <br />The results showed seven winners pvt two words and two winners put <br />one word. <br />Motion by Co�issioner Haake and seconded by Cotrmiissioner Lundquist <br />to officially spe11 the park titLe '�Silver View" as two words. The <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />Greenfield 3he �trector informed Co�issioners that the City Council had <br />Park aprs:.ved an additional expenditure of $2,900, for the grading� <br />>eeu�ng� and ditch work at Greenfield Park in 1975. Co�issioner <br />Coplxn inquired why tbe emphasis on Green£ield Park. The Directox <br />responded aith the explanation of water problems and unsightliness <br />since Spring and the co�ittment to deal with these problems. In <br />Addition he pointed out that a general upgrading of the area was <br />needed with a11 the fill artd dirt work which cras conducted. <br />Neact the Director introduced the Landscape Architect who would be <br />working on the Green£ield project. John 14rrittin. A discussion of <br />the site ensued wi.eh Co�issioners approving a general preliminary <br />concept plan for development. Mr, Turrittin would be expected to <br />put the co�fssioners location of facilities on paper and present <br />this plan as soon as possible. <br />Encluded in the plan would be a ballfield� tennis courts� hockey <br />rink� pleasure rink� passive area and trails. Comnissioners all <br />£elt that the natural area of the park required no dumping signs as <br />a reminder for the preservation of this area. <br />
