-2- <br />The Director of Parks and Recreation pointed out [hat <br />there must have been a misunderstanding when Mrs. Bromland <br />attended the danuary 6��1976 meeting. <br />After a lengthy discussion tr,e Commission £e1t that because <br />of the importance of their many Parks and Recreation <br />Commission meetings� plus the Commissioners' heavy involve- <br />ment in other coirmiittees and organizationss that they could <br />not provide a representative to attend N.C.E.A.C. meetings. <br />The Director added that protocol suggests that a represen- <br />tative from the Pinewood Council attend Parks and Recreation <br />Cortunission meetings when needed rather than vice versa. He <br />also noted that the intention of the Pinewood Council was <br />sts3ctly associated withthe irt¢nediate Pinewood "camnunity" <br />and not the conanunity as a whole. When issues affecting <br />the Parks and Recreation Department arise in the Pinewood <br />area then this councii would attend a Convnission meeting <br />soliciting the support of Cocmnissioners who would therefore <br />remit a recrnmnendation to the Parks and Recreation Depart- <br />ment or to the City Councii. �Yne Direc[oi �t:e��s3 :he <br />point that the Parks and Recreation Coim¢ission has the sole <br />responsibility of planning and co�nissioning park and <br />recreation activities within the City of Mounds View. <br />Woodcrest The following camnents wera rendered by Co�nissioners <br />Park dusing the discussion and preliminary planning session Cor <br />Woodcrest Park: <br />Peterson �'Would like to see the Northwest corner of <br />the park cleaned up and left natural." <br />Coplin '�Suggest Leaving hockey rink until Silver <br />View is developed. Also� [here should be a <br />6allfield or at least an open play area and <br />ihe park must be buffered from Silver Lake <br />Road. <br />Fedor "It's important to establish the location of <br />physical facilities such as the building and <br />tot Lot. The plan should also be drawn with <br />an east/west tile ditch in mind.�� <br />Weflen "Keep the importance of good drainage� land- <br />scaping and functional use in mind." <br />A discussion followed with the Landscape Architect John <br />Turri[tin. It was concluded after all cortm�ents had been <br />made that Mr. 1Urrittin would attend the January 22 meeting <br />with rough draft of Woodcres[ Park. <br />
