I�1�D T0: Parka and Recrea[ion Commissioners <br />FROM: Staff <br />DATE: December 9, 1977 <br />RE: Lakeside Park <br />The Latceside Park Cowmisaion has me[ [wice during the past month to <br />diacuss the future of Lakeside Park and the Commission. I[ appears <br />that the existing Commission is experiencing a multitude of problem <br />azeas, including: <br />1. Poor attendance at mee[ings <br />2. Lack of long range plane <br />3. Lack of professional exper[Sse <br />4. Poor attendance for scheduled programs <br />5. Increased operating expenses <br />6. Questiona concerning present role; policy making ve. working role <br />The Mounds View City Council directed the Council representa[ive Judy <br />Rowley and Mayor John Pickar to attend the November 21 Spring Lake Park <br />City Council meethig to express the Council's cuncerns on Lakenide Park. <br />On December 8 an iaformal task force met to review the existing atatus <br />of Lakeside Park and recommend soluticns for the January 12 meeting. <br />One of [he possible solutions is that the Commission become etric[ly <br />policy oriented and the adminiatra[ive responsibilities would be turned <br />over to the tvo ci[ies Parks departmen[s. <br />Staff will be submitting a report in conjunctlon with Jay McCluakey, <br />Spring Lake Park Parks and Recreation Direc[or, a[ the .Tanuary 12 <br />meeting to determine the feasibility of such a proposal. <br />
