Once the rype and loca[ion of the donated tree is determined, [he <br />donor maila a check for the purchase price and [he Recreation <br />Depaitmen[ then plants the tree. <br />d. The donor's name is then placed on a plaque located in City Hall <br />along with a le[ter aent ro the donating party, co-signed by the <br />Mayor and Park Board Chairman acknowledging their generous gift. <br />S[aff feels thia type of program is worthwhile on two accounts: <br />1. IncreasesEity Wide [ree planrings. <br />2. Improvea public relations image. <br />Staff ia presently developing a mas[er planting plav for each park si[e <br />and will be reco�ending the initiation of a similar program once that <br />ie completed. <br />6. Co�imity Gaxdening - Staff has been ac[ively researching the <br />development oF additional programe in the area of co�unity gardening. <br />The fallowing programa will be initia[ed in the Spring of 1978: <br />a. 100 co�unity garden plots preoared at the Silver View park eite <br />for indiviCual rental. <br />b. Six gardening claeaea have been set up with Ramaey County exteneion <br />includiag Lawn Care, Flower Gardening, Pr�ming, Selection of <br />Shrubbery, Backyard Frui[a and Vegetable Gardening. <br />c. Expanaion of exis[ing city nursery. <br />d. DevelopmenC of a suburban gardeners "Faxmer Market" program. <br />e. City Wide plan[ing includSng formel plantings, rase gardena and <br />neighborhood pazk plantere. <br />
