MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COhIMISSION <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />Regular Session <br />September 28, 1978 <br />Mounds View City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br />Call to Order The �tounds View Parks and Recreation Commission <br />was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Chairman <br />Wayne Burmeister. <br />Roll Call Commissioners Present - Chairman Burmeister, <br />Commissioners Coplin, Linke, Kuluvar and Fedor. <br />Commissioners Absent - Commissioner Haake � Weflen. <br />Councilmember Present - Councilmember Ziebarth. <br />Staff Present - Director Anderson and Program Super- <br />visor Kvalheim. <br />Visitors Present - Mr. Tom Foster, President and <br />Diane Heinz, member of the White Oak Homeowners <br />Association; Richard Kaiser, President, and Gary <br />Hanscom, Mounds View Jaycees. <br />Approval of Commissioner Linke requested that staff be directed <br />Minutes to prepare a file of each park, including park <br />inventory,maps and other data relevant to the park <br />be edded to the minutes. Commissioner Linke made <br />a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. <br />Commissioner Kuluvar seconded the motion. The <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />5 Ayes <br />0 Nays <br />Ardan Park Gary Hanscom, member of the Mounds View Jaycees, <br />reported that the Jaycees were concerned about <br />playground equipment being placed at Ardan Park. <br />The Jaycees are interested in working in coopera- <br />tion with the Commission and staff in the develop- <br />ment of Arda❑ Park. The Jaycees have the desire <br />to keep Ardan Park as natural as possible and are <br />also leary of the ponds as potential hazards to <br />toddlers. Their specific ideas for the park include: <br />trail system, benches and mini arboretum. The <br />Jaycees wish to plant seedlings along the Long lake <br />roadside as a buffer zone. <br />Commissioners expressed appreciation for the Jaycees <br />interest but explained that the park concept plan <br />had been discussed at length last year. It was <br />requested that staff esteblish specific project <br />recommendations from the .7aycees for the Commission's <br />review. <br />
