MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COhIMISSION CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA Regular Session September 28, 1978 Mounds View City Hall Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. Call to Order The �tounds View Parks and Recreation Commission was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Chairman Wayne Burmeister. Roll Call Commissioners Present - Chairman Burmeister, Commissioners Coplin, Linke, Kuluvar and Fedor. Commissioners Absent - Commissioner Haake � Weflen. Councilmember Present - Councilmember Ziebarth. Staff Present - Director Anderson and Program Super- visor Kvalheim. Visitors Present - Mr. Tom Foster, President and Diane Heinz, member of the White Oak Homeowners Association; Richard Kaiser, President, and Gary Hanscom, Mounds View Jaycees. Approval of Commissioner Linke requested that staff be directed Minutes to prepare a file of each park, including park inventory,maps and other data relevant to the park be edded to the minutes. Commissioner Linke made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. Commissioner Kuluvar seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 5 Ayes 0 Nays Ardan Park Gary Hanscom, member of the Mounds View Jaycees, reported that the Jaycees were concerned about playground equipment being placed at Ardan Park. The Jaycees are interested in working in coopera- tion with the Commission and staff in the develop- ment of Arda❑ Park. The Jaycees have the desire to keep Ardan Park as natural as possible and are also leary of the ponds as potential hazards to toddlers. Their specific ideas for the park include: trail system, benches and mini arboretum. The Jaycees wish to plant seedlings along the Long lake roadside as a buffer zone. Commissioners expressed appreciation for the Jaycees interest but explained that the park concept plan had been discussed at length last year. It was requested that staff esteblish specific project recommendations from the .7aycees for the Commission's review.
