MEMO T0: hbunds View Parks and Recreation Commissioners FROM: Staff DATE: January 22, 1979 RE: Park Shelter Task Force At the May Park Commission meeting it was determined that a Park Shelter Task Force should be estabtsihed to review and analyze the existing status of the Park Shelter Buildings. Each Commissioner was to assign a liaison for their respective park to meet on a monthiy basis. The assignments were as follows: Lambert - Comnissioner Weflen Oakwood - Comnissioner Fedor Groveland - Commissioner Kuluvar Greenfield - Commissioner Linke Hiltview - Chairperson Burmeister Woodcrest - Comnissianer Coplin In addition the following appointments were made, Director Anderson as Coordinator, Comnissioner Linke as Cortenission Liaison and Frank Kampel as Design Coordinator. Staff has scheduled four meetings since that date, each of which has been poorly attended. As many of our decisions are based on the input from each of the park sites it is imperative that each park site be represented. As staff feels that the P.S.T.F. report should become an integral part of the over- all comprehensive park master plan we feel that we should re-organize the task force. It appears to be difficult to retain a representative from each park site, so staff recommends that neighborhood meetings should he held to receive input from all residents in the respective park areas. This information could then be reviewed and analyzed by a sub-committee of the Park Commission who would finalize the report for the Council's review. We could coordinate these meetings in conjunction with our comprehensive Park and Open Space StuQy. If the Commission feels that this would be a better approach, staff recommends that a sub-committee be fonned from the Commission to work with staff in developing a time line> questionnaire and overall strategy.
